Bind + Origin is about the creation and development of a language by two girls
in 1910 and their granddaughters’ present day attempt to decipher these found letters.
The reader encounters a collectionof documents, from old letters to emails to
books which serve as the visual narrative device that tells the story.

Themes of translation and cross cultural communication are the focus of Bind + Origin.
The development of this language and the narrative spring from my research of two
extinct writing systems (Scandinavian Runes and Chinese Seal Script) and the historical
events surrounding them. These events were then combined with fictional characters
and situations to provide a framework within which to present this new script.
